Mortgage Application Process
I would like to offer some personal advice on shopping for mortgages! Many times shopping only for the best rates will not find a lender who offers good service. Often times those good advertised rates do not include extra fees and charges that could cost you thousands of dollars to close the loan. All loan originators and brokers must be licensed by the State of North Carolina if they are processing a loan that will be secured by real estate located within the state. There are some banks and lenders that have been issued exemptions. You can check the license status on the North Carolina Commissioner of Banking website. Instead of shopping online, I would encourage you to pick up the phone and call one of the agents listed below. Good personal service can guide you through the complicated process of mortgage application.
FYI - It is a violation of law for me to accept any form of payment for referrals to a lender! I only do this because the use of a competent mortgage broker is absolutely crucial to the sale or purchase of a home. More sales fallthrough because of lender issues than any other reason!
